Guan Yin is an East Asian Bodhisattva associated with compassion. Bodhi means wisdom or enlightenment and sattva means being of essence.
The thousand hands of the Bodhisattva represents the ability to render assistance.
A Bodhisattva is not a deity but a spiritually advanced human being, anyone can be a a Bodhisattva regardless of appearance, race or gender. Whenever you act in accordance with a natural impulse of compassion you take one step further towards becoming a Bodhisattva.
